For thousands of military men and women coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan and settling back into civilian life in the United States, the adjustment can be a difficult one.
Not only are these individuals separated from the tightly knit bonds of friendship and brotherhood, but when they return home, life as they knew it previously had changed. And they had changed.
As a first step in understanding the issues involved, The Veterans/Soldiers Group of Dexter United Methodist Church is sponsoring a special presentation with Chaplain Larry Vollink of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor at 7 p.m. Nov. 28.
The topic of the presentation is “Spiritual Battles Facing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Military Veterans.”
This session is free and open to the public. Churches and local groups and individuals in the neighboring communities are encouraged to attend.
Discussion and questions will follow Chaplain Vollink’s presentation. The event will be held in the church atrium and refreshments will be available. The church is located at 7643 Huron River Drive in Dexter.
