Book talk, movies and Dr. Seuss birthday celebrations are on tap this week.

It’s Wednesday, and that means it is time for the  Grab & Go Kids Planner!

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

 PIZZA AND PAGES FOR TEENS

Where/When: Brecon Room at the Saline District Library, 3 p.m. Thursday.

Why Go: Free pizza for your teen (grade six-12) as the group talks about the book Dairy Queen, by Carol Lynch Williams. Meanwhile, you’re free to roam the library, surf the Net or find a cozy chair and read a book.

Pricing: Free, but call 429-5450 to register.                 

 STORYTIME: DR. SEUSS’ BIRTHDAY

Where/When: Milan Public Library, 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

Why Go: Storytime is geared toward children ages 3-5 and features stories, crafts, songs and related activities. This spring, the Milan Public Library celebrates Dr. Seuss’ birthday and continues to read through the alphabet. On Thursday, “Q is for …”

Pricing: Free.

 PROJECT LEAD THE WAY OPEN HOUSE

Where/When: Saline Middle School, 6:30-8 p.m. Monday.

Why Go: The community is invited to see the latest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education at Saline Area Schools. Parents can also visit from 8-9 a.m. and 1:40-2:40 p.m., Monday. Project Lead the Way is why many kids at Saline Middle School are getting excited about learning science and math.

Pricing: Free.

 GRAND OPENING BREWED AWAKENINGS

Where/When: Brewed Awakenings, 7025 E. Michigan Ave., Saline. 11 a.m., Saturday.

Why Go: Lots of reasons. To support the Kaster family, which is opening a new business. To see local dignitaries at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. But also for some coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, soups and more.

Pricing: Free.

 SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILY MOVIES

Where/When: Saline District Library, 1:15 p.m. Sunday.

Why Go: The whole family is invited for a free, sensory-friendly movie. This month’s movie is Megamind. The program is aimed at people with special needs and their families.
