Get Out: Rev Your Engines, Salute Your Neighbor, Picnic in the Park

A sunny weekend forecast is just what the community ordered for some outdoor events.

1.  Memorial Day Parade

When/Where:  Monday, May 30, Memorial Day at 10 a.m. in Downtown Saline along Michigan Avenue. The parade will end at Michigan Ave. and Monroe St. for a ceremony at the cemetery.

Why Go:  A wonderful opportunity to spend some time with your friends, family and neighbors, while honoring those who sacrificed for our country.

Cost:  Free

2.  Milan Dragway Memorial Weekend Race

When/Where:  10860 Plank Rd., Milan.  Saturday and Sunday races, gates open 9 a.m. both days.

Why Go:  All day fun and excitement for racing fans, including the Saturday Night Shoot Out Series, huge bonfire and golf cart race.

Cost:  $15 for the day, $25 for the weekend, kids 12 and under are free.

3.  Milan Grill Mega Saturday Specials

When/Where:  Saturday, May 28, Milan Grill, 39 E. Main St. in Milan, MI

Why Go:  All you can eat crab legs!  Happy Hour Drinks prices all weekend long.

Cost: varies

4.  Open Mic Night for all ages

When/Where:  Saturday, May 28, Brewed Awakenings Café, 7025 E. Michigan Ave. Saline, 7 - 9 p.m.

Why Go:  Be entertained by community voices, high school bands, etc., or try the mic out yourself in front of a friendly audience.

Cost:  Free

5. Mill Pond Park

Where/When:  Mill Pond Park, 565 W. Bennett St. Saline.

Why Go:  Mill Pond Park has every amenity needed for a holiday family picnic.  Grills, benches, tables, a covered pavilion, electricity, restrooms, giant play structure for kids and a special area for tots, soccer fields, nature trails, fishing, boat launch for non-motorized boats, and a dog run.
