Auditions This Week for Saline Area Players

The Saline Area Players are in preparations for auditions for their upcoming show, “Warren’s Peace,” written by local playwrights Marc Holland and Kathy Holland.  The show will be co-directed by Marc Holland and Salinian Brian Cox.

This provides a wonderful opportunity to be involved in a local event from the ground up.  All are invited to auditions. And what’s more, the play is set in small town Michigan.  It tells the story of a young National Guardsman who comes to the small town of Crickwater, Michigan to kick off a World Peace Day celebration, but finds the city’s fathers and mother ready for anything but peace!

Open auditions for will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Monday & Tuesday, February 10 & 11 at 7:00 PM at Liberty School, Room 21, 7265 Saline-Ann Arbor Rd., Saline. Callbacks, if needed, will be Wednesday, February 12. Those auditioning may come to one or the other audition time and registration begins at 6:30 p.m. Parts are available for 3 men and 3 women to play very colorful characters. Rehearsals will take place Monday-Thursday evenings (with possible Sunday afternoons) and begin February 13.  The show will be performed at Stone Arch Arts and Events April 4-6 with a “made in Michigan” theme.

Auditioners should be prepared to do cold readings from the script. They should also bring a list of their conflicts between the above dates and will be asked to fill out an audition form.  The director will be looking for effective use of facial expressions and body language to effectively convey character and mood, the ability to project and articulate, varied vocal inflection, the ability to react and respond to others and, overall, energy and stage presence.

Many more details are available on the website: www.salineareaplayers.org, including audition information, the audition form, and character descriptions. Additional questions about auditions should be directed to the director, Marc Holland, at nickaddams@yahoo.com or 734-975-8904.  If you are interested in helping behind-the-scenes for this production, please contact president@salineareaplayers.org
