The 2,000th adoption of 2012, at the Humane Society of Huron Valley was exciting for many reasons. Not only did a sweet, four month-old wire-haired dachshund mix, named Bernadette get adopted, but the family that adopted her has been connected to HSHV for years.  The Bergman family has been coming to HSHV once a year, every year, since their son Jonah was seven years old (he's now fourteen!). They live in California now, but always stop by HSHV to see the dogs when they're in the area visiting family. During “Feline Independence Days”, July 2-6, the Humane Society of Huron Valley liberates all adult cats five months of age or older from their adoption fees.   With their sparkling personalities already established, it's easy to find just the right cat to set off some fireworks in your heart! HSHV has plenty of American beauties waiting to join your family. The Humane Society of Huron Valley is excited to announce our first ever "Spring Adopt-a-thon" to be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at HSHV. HSHV will be open from 9 a.m. to midnight during this mega-adoption event. "This time of the year is when our facility reaches capacity as kittens start entering in large quantities. In order to make room for all the other homeless pets that need shelter, we are hoping to find new forever homes for 150 pets in this one single day," said Deb Kern, HSHV Marketing Director.
