Thursday night's downtown concert has been moved to Liberty School.
Creole du Nord, an Ann Arbor-based band, was to bring its Cajun and Zydeco music to downtown Saline Thursday night. With scattered thunderstorms in the forecast, the free concert has been moved to Liberty School, at 7265 N. Ann Arbor St.
Here's how Creole du Nord describes its sound in its press package.
Creole and other traditional music” may suggest sounds rooted in pre-mass media Americana, true... but it’s more than just a marketing label or a sales hook. The band’s sound can be traced to southwest Louisiana’s traditional music mixed with some crossover tunes such as in “Cluck Old Hen, Alberta, or Rueben’s Train” or some forgotten gospel song of the “Okay” label. This music usually keeps uneasy company with slicker stuff. It’s what is consider down home sawing or two-steppin’ on a sawdust floor…that’s what we’re really talking about. So come hear the band, move a little, and have some fun.
