VIDEOSTORY: Authors Teach Students About Story Writing

The authors of Aprilmae Gets Carried Away! were at Harvest Elementary Friday for a March is Reading Month activity.

Students at learned lessons in story writing from the team behind Aprilmae Gets Carried Away!, authored by Diane Friese and Susan Russel, designed by Daniele O'Brien and illustrated by Diane Friese. Friday's interactive presentation was part of March is Reading Month activities at the school.

Students were taught about the tools a writer uses to tell a story, like dictionaries and thesauruses. Using Aprilmae Gets Carried Away! the authors taught students about the three parts of the story—the beginning, middle and end—and how they are used to introduce characters, the story's main problem and, hopefully, the solution.
