Saline's ACT and MME Scores Up, Besting Peers in Washtenaw County
Data from the Michigan Department of Education shows Saline's Class of 2013 did better on the Michigan Merit Exam than peers at Chelsea, Dexter and Pioneer.
Saline High School students easily bested state averages and were at or near the top of county rankings on Michigan Merit Exam (MME) and ACT tests taken this year..
On MME tests, in comparison with Pioneer, Chelsea, Dexter, Ypsilanti and Milan high schools, Saline High School had the highest percentage of students meeting proficiency in reading, writing and social studies. Saline was second to Pioneer in math and science. In the test, taken each spring by high school juniors, Saline also showed improvement in every test subject except science, where the same percentage of students met state proficiency levels is in 2011.
In the ACT tests, Saline best every state average, improved on every score from 2011, and had the highest "all subjects" ACT score in the county.
The MDE adopted a tougher standard for passing the MME this year to better represent the number of students who are college-ready. Students had to score higher on the tests to receive a passing, or "proficient", score. The following numbers also show scores for the past three years, which were retrospectively adjusted to reflect the new MME scoring standards.
Saline High School's 2012 MME Scores Compared to State Averages, Nearby Schools, and Past Performance (Percent of students who met proficiency)

Way to go Saline schools. I am proud of the teachers who are making a personal sacrifices to keep the schools strong. It is just sad that we reward your continued success by cutting your salaries. Some day I hope we can reward you for your dedication and sacrifices.
