No Injuries in Minor School Bus Crash

A Saline school bus was struck by a van Wednesday morning.

The driver of a van was ticketed for failing to stop after a minor crash with a Saline Area Schools bus Wednesday morning. There were no injuries.

At about 9 a.m., a school bus carrying children to Pleasant Ridge Elementary was moving southbound on Industrial Street when  it crossed Michigan Avenue with a green light. A van moving east on Michigan Avenue ran a red light. According to Saline Police, the driver said  the light switched from yellow to red and that his brakes failed.

"Both drivers swerved but couldn't avoid the collision," said Saline Police Officer Ashley Kofahl.

Police arrived and the vehicles were still in the intersection, with kids still on the bus.

"They were fine," said Kofahl, describing the mood of the kids.

The school district contacted the parents of children involved in the crash.

Kofahl described the damaged to the bus as "scrapes down its side." She said the van's fender was damaged on its right side.

Doesn't matter if the went from yellow to red, you are still supposed to stop!! That's how the law is written a yellow light is to be treated like a red light, not speed up and run through it!!
