Meet the New SPD Chief July 2

The new police chief, Larry Hrinik, will be begin work in Saline on July 2.

The community is invited to meet its future Saline Police Chief Larry Hrinik during a meet-and-greet at 4 p.m. July 2.

That’s the day the former Chief of the Davison Township Police Department begins his work in Saline. Though City Clerk Dianne Hill will swear-in Hrinik in the morning, a ceremonial swearing-in ceremony takes place at 4:30 p.m.

Saline City Council agreed to pay Hrinik an annual salary of $91,109 at its Monday meeting. The chief will also be provided a city vehicle which can be taken home. He’ll participate in a hybrid pension plan  which will require him to pay 1 to 10 percent of his grass annual wage towards his pension benefits. Hrinik will receive $5,000 for moving expenses.

Hrinik was selected out of a hiring process that lasted several months. In January, longtime chief Paul Bunten retired. He was replaced by interim chief Mike Lindman.
