Marl Makes it Official

Marl officially became the first candidate to file for mayor when City Clerk Dianne Hill verified his nominating petition.

Mayoral candidate Brian Marl made it official Wednesday.

Saline City Clerk Dianne Hill verified the signatures on the nominating petition submitted earlier this month, making Marl the first candidate to officially file for Mayor of Saline in the 2012 election.

“I’m excited that the campaign can really get started in earnest,” said Marl, who serves on Saline City Council. “Momentum has been building for months, and now that the weather is warm I am looking forward to continuing conversations with city residents about a shared vision for Saline’s future.”

To date, to announce intentions to run for mayor. The filing deadline is the day of the August Primary election.

In early March,. Since that announcement, nearly 100 community leaders and residents have endorsed his candidacy, joining “Citizens for Marl” on his website. County Commissioner Alicia Ping, R-Saline, Rep. David Rutledge, D-Ypsilanti, and Rep. Jeff Irwin, D-Ann Arbor, have added their names to the list of endorsements.

“Saline has been through some difficult times during recent years,” Marl said. “We are acommunity of hardworking, resilient families and business owners focused on solutions and a vision for the future. I know that Saline’s best days are ahead of us.”
