Letter to the Editor: Brian Marl Prepares for Mayoral Duties in Saline
Mayor-elect says he is committed to accessibility throughout his term.
Neighbors, friends, and fellow Saline residents,
Earlier this month, I had the great honor of being elected Saline’s next mayor. As I prepare to begin my service in January, I find myself reflecting on the past few months of the campaign, and on what I hope we can accomplish together as a community.
Firstly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to everyone who chose to support me; your kindness throughout the campaign - and at the polls - was truly humbling. I have enjoyed meeting so many Saline community members at community gatherings, at events I hosted, and going door-to-door throughout our city. Accessibility has always been something I’ve worked hard to emphasize during my service on City Council, and I will continue to be committed to ensuring that residents can easily reach me with a question, concern or suggestion.
I also intend to emphasize the other key focus areas of my campaign: support for public safety, fiscal responsibility, economic development and investment in infrastructure. I so much look forward to working with my colleagues on City Council, along with city staff, community stakeholders and all Saline residents to make the tough decisions necessary to move our community forward.
Glenn Law, my former colleague on City Council and fellow mayoral candidate this fall, ran a great campaign, and he and I agree on many issues. To those Saline residents who voted for Mr. Law earlier this month, I am committed to earning your trust and confidence.
Now that the election is behind us, it’s clear that there are no Brian Marl supporters or Glenn Law supporters, only people who support doing what is best for Saline.
In the weeks, months, and years ahead, I look forward to conversations about residents’ ideas and suggestions, and to moving together toward a vision for our community’s future.
Brian D. Marl
Mayor-Elect, City of Saline
