More than 300 took Ford vehicles for a test drive during the Drive 1 4UR School event at Harvest Elementary School Saturday.

The event, sponsored by Briarwood Ford, was held to raise money for Saline High School bands. Ford Motor Company pledged to donate $20 for every test drive, up to $6,000, during the event. Ford pledged to donate $10 for every person who took a second test drive in a Ford Focus. The Focus test drives could have raised up to $2,000. With 160 people taking the Focus for a spin, the event raised about $1,600 on top of the $6,000.

Briarwood Ford co-owner Steve Whitener said that because there was only one Focus at the event, some people waited in line and left before taking the vehicle for a test drive. So, he said, the dealership will make up difference so that the bands receive the full $8,000.
